A Bit of Background

How We Got Started

Years ago, on a whim, I purchased my first bird dog, a Brittany, "Sassy Cheyenne Lady" from a Pennsylvania breeder who had a nice line of grouse hunting dogs. I was surprised to see my new pup’s grandfather "Pacolet Cheyenne Sam" was listed by the American Brittany Club as a Hall of Fame Brittany! Knowing this, I figured all I needed to do was just take this dog hunting and she would naturally learn everything she needed to know along the way. Well, Sassy and I learned a lot together, especially everything not to do with your first gun dog. After losing Sassy, I decided it was time to get another, and this time do it right from the start. I purchased my new pup from a reputable breeder in Canada and as it turned out this girl, "Duchess" would be my once-in-a-lifetime dog. We joined our local NAVHDA chapter and followed the steps, progressing thru all levels, with the intent of making a fine hunting companion. As my success with Duchess grew, so did my interest in other venues, competition, AKC Hunt Tests, Field Trials as well as the Show Ring.
